The Ambassadors of Peace (AOP) program is a group of 7th and 8th grade students that lead, encourage and promote a positive and caring environment for all students here at SJS. Members of the SJS Ambassadors of Peace group are selected for their strong leadership and social skills. These students demonstrate and empower other students by teaching skills and strategies that help to develop character and inspire a kind and respectful school atmosphere.
AOP members have assisted in Mix It Up Days, performed random acts of kindness at SJS such as decorating middle school lockers and have made videos for students on playground rules and behavior and bullying. The group has much planned for the 2019-2020 school year so please be sure to check for the latest updates.
The Ambassadors of Peace sent Welcome postcards to students new to St. Joseph Catholic School, performed a Christmas Candy Cane Random Act of Kindness to middle school students, initiated February as Kindness Month and encouraged students to perform random acts of kindness through morning news announcements during Kindness Week, distributed flowers to recess and lunch monitors thanking them for all their hard work. Many AOP memebers also serve as mentors in the I Am a Friend mentoring program.
This program is a collaborative effort, coordinated by our school counselor Mrs. Patty Farrell and junior high teacher, Mrs. Mary Bilbo.
