June 1, 2017This past Tuesday evening, the 7th and 8th grade members of the speech club participated in SJS' annual Oratorical Contest. The students began meeting in February and chose a quote as a focus for their speech. The following are two examples: “We never know how high we are til we are called to rise. And then, if we are true to plan, our statures touch the skies.” - Emily Dickinson “I am bigger than anything that can happen to me. All these things, sorrow, misfortune, and suffering, are outside my door. I am in the house and I have the key.” - Charles Fletcher Lummis
