The greenhouse is being built outside the science lab in the interior courtyard. In addition, shrubs were removed on the opposite side of the Prayer Garden in order for classes to have their own individual gardens.
The project plan consists of digging and forming, Town of Herndon inspections, pouring, framing, and room box installations. This will be followed by providing water, electric, and shelving. Rest assured these necessary phases will be completed with no interruption to the school. Thank you to our entire faculty and staff for your cooperation and patience during this time. By working together, and the help of good weather, it will be completed within two weeks.
We are grateful for your generosity in helping us raise $25,000 for this Spring Fling event appeal item last March. Thank you to Father Tom for generously matching the funds raised in order to build a state-of-the-art greenhouse. Because of the magnitude of this project we have involved the Diocese of Arlington.
Thank you to our second graders who have already planted a tulip garden in their class garden along the prayer garden wall.
Miss. Jennison, our Junior High Science Teacher, will establish and implement greenhouse curriculum for our students.

Please join Mrs. Applegate for the inaugural meeting of the Ecology Club on Monday, October 17th. It is open to students in the Extended Day Program in grades 4-8. Please come ready to share ideas about how we can help your fellow students, faculty, staff and administration make our school more environmentally friendly. We will talk about the vision of St. Francis and how we can help those around us care for our earth.
