During Catholic Schools week we will be highlighting community service into our celebration. Community service is an integral part of education at St.Joseph School. Our service to the community and the wider world teaches students the importance of making service a lifelong practice, to become better citizens and to live their faith. St. Joseph School will be conducting a service project for the community by collecting needed items for LINK. LINK, Inc. is a non-profit charity that provides emergency food to people in need in our community.
Catholic Schools Week is the annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. During the week of January 31st , we focus on the value Catholic education provides to our students and its contributions to our church, our communities, and our nation. Community service is an integral part of education at St. Joseph School. Our service to the community and the wider world teaches students the importance of making service a lifelong practice, to become better citizens and to live their faith. St. Joseph School will be conducting a service project for the community by collecting needed items for LINK. LINK, Inc. is a non-profit charity that provides emergency food to people in need in our community.Each grade is asked to donate a specific item, as listed below. Donations accepted through Friday, Feb 5th:
- Kindergarten – Boxed rice
- First Grade – Pasta Side Dishes
- Second Grade – Boxed potatoes
- Third Grade – Hearty canned soups (ie; Chunky or Progresso)
- Fourth Grade – Pasta Sauce, Tomato Sauce and Canned Tomato Products
- Fifth Grade – Canned Chicken
- Sixth Grade – Canned Fruit
- Seventh Grade – Toiletries, for example: toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo and conditioner, deodorant, soap, etc.
- Eighth Grade – Toilet paper

LINK, Inc. exists to provide emergency food and financial assistance to qualified people in need. Supported primarily by donations of food and funds, LINK is comprised of dedicated churches, organizations, and individuals serving the Herndon, Sterling, and Ashburn, Virginia communities.
The all volunteer staff at LINK believe in the power of selfless service and the importance of providing people in crisis with unconditional love. This love includes commitment, compassion, and the courage to serve the sick, abused, hurt, unloved, and powerless.
