What ever happened to those old SJS uniforms we donated? They made these students at the Eco-Villages School in Haiti very happy! In fact they wore them to school the day after they arrived.
Last fall, after approximately 35 years, St. Joseph School updated our official school uniform. With this change came hundreds of unneeded old uniforms. The school administration and the SJS parent community were extremely concerned about the waste, especially when there are children in need of clothing all over the world. To resolve this we worked with a school in Haiti who was in need of clothing for their students. To offset the exorbitant cost of shipping we held several fundraisers and dress out days to raise money to be able to ship hundreds of uniforms to these children in Haiti. The end result were these children pictured above who were elated to receive these uniforms. Our entire SJS community was so proud when we saw the smiles on these young faces. Our students were so proud to see these youngsters wearing our old plaid and old logo! Furthermore we are looking for ways to connect and continue our relationship with them in the future.
