As the excitement starts to mount for the start of the new school year, I want to introduce to you our new faculty members, apprise you of staff reassignments, and say farewell to departing staff.

Mrs. Debbie Carroll joins the faculty as our new second grade white teacher. Mrs. Carroll has 25 years teaching experience, most recently as a fourth grade teacher at St. Theresa Catholic School in Ashburn, VA. In addition, she has five years experience teaching second grade in Massachusetts and Vermont. Mrs. Carroll earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Castleton University (VT), and she holds a VA Collegiate Professional License in elementary education.
Mrs. Caryn Hatley joins the faculty as our new computer teacher and instructional technologist. Mrs. Hatley earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education form Louisiana Tech (LA), a master's degree in elementary education from Louisiana State University (LA), an education specialist in information science and learning technologies from University of Missouri (MO), and a library science certification from Old Dominion University (VA). She holds a VA Postgraduate Professional License in elementary education and library media.
Mrs. Elizabeth Low joins the faculty as our new 5th and 6th grade instructional assistant. Mrs. Low has four years teaching experience as an instructional assistant in resource and as a third grade teacher at St. Theresa Catholic School in Ashburn, VA. Mrs. Low earned a bachelor's degree in aviation business management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (FL), a master's degree in education from Marymount University (VA), and she holds a VCEA teaching license.
Mrs. Beth Moschetto joins the faculty as our new librarian. Mrs. Moschetto has 16 years teaching experience, most recently as an instructional assistant at Hamilton Elementary School in Hamilton, VA. In addition, Mrs. Moschetto taught middle school for 14 years and served as the school librarian for two years at St. Veronica Catholic School in Chantilly, VA. She earned a bachelor's degree in middle school education from James Madison University (VA), and she holds a VA Collegiate Professional License in middle education.
Mrs. Kathleen Moskowitz joins the faculty as our new second grade green teacher. Mrs.
Moskowitz has seven years teaching experience, the last five as a second grade teacher at St. Timothy Catholic School in Chantilly. Mrs. Moskowitz earned a bachelor's degree in history from Long Island University (NY) and a master's degree in teaching from Queens College (NY). She holds a VA Postgraduate Professional License in elementary education.
Mrs. Jeanne Nickles joins the faculty as our 7th and 8th grade language arts teacher. Mrs.
Nickles has nine years teaching experience, most recently as the 7th and 8th grade Language Arts teacher at St. Mark Catholic School in Vienna, VA. Mrs. Nickles earned a bachelor's degree in English from Virginia Tech (VA), a master's degree in English with a concentration in the teaching of writing and literature from George Mason University (VA), and she holds a VA Postgraduate Professional License in English
Mrs. Kimberly Simmons-Le joins the faculty as our new first grade red teacher. Ms.
Simmons-Le has three years teaching experience as a second grade teacher at Holy Spirit Catholic School in Annandale, and three years as an instructional assistant in first and second grade at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Vienna. Ms. Simmons-Le earned a bachelor's degree in art education from Penn State University (PA) and a master's degree in education from Drexel University (PA). She holds a VCEA teaching license.
These faculty members will serve in new capacities:
Mrs. Mary Bilbo will continue to teach her Math 8 class to 8 green and white. Additionally, she will teach 7th and 8th literature, allowing her to capitalize on her training, background and certification. Mrs. Bilbo earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Virginia (VA), a master's degree in curriculum and instruction, concentration in multilingual education from George Mason University (VA), and holds a VA Postgraduate Professional License in English as a second language.
Miss Meghan Denneny moves from second grade white to kindergarten green. Ms. Denneny brings all her enthusiasm to the youngest members of our community where she will play a major role in instilling a life-long love of learning in each of her students. Meghan holds a bachelor's degree from Radford University (VA) and a VA Collegiate Professional License in elementary education.
Mrs. Patty Farrell moves from instructional assistant in second grade white to school counselor. Mrs. Farrell has four years experience as a school counselor and holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Marymount College (NY), and a master's degree in education and human development with a concentration in school counseling from George Washington University (DC).
Miss Lauren Jennison will continue to teach 7th and 8th science. Additionally, she will bring her passion for science to our younger students as she takes on the role of lab teacher for grades
1st through 5th. Miss Jennison will collaborate with lower school teachers to create lab opportunities for students that will provide hands-on learning and support STEM education. Miss Jennison earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Mary Washington University (VA), and holds a VCEA teaching license.
Mrs. Laura Jones will continue to teach Algebra to 8th grade green and white, and she will continue to teach pre-Algebra to 7th grade blue and red. Additionally she will teach 7th grade math to 7th blue and red. Mrs. Jones earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Ohio State University (OH), and a master's degree in elementary education from Ohio State University (OH). Mrs. Jones holds a VA Postgraduate Professional License in middle education grades 6-8, and a VCEA teaching certificate in Algebra 1.
Mrs. Heidi Keusenkothen will join the 5th grade team as the 5th grade red teacher. Mrs. Keusenkothen brings to her new position her training, enthusiasm, and commitment to meeting the needs of her students. She has taught both in the resource department as well as middle school language arts. She earned a bachelor's degree in international studies from George Mason University (VA), and she holds a VCEA teaching license.
Mrs. Maureen O'Neill moves from 5th grade instructional assistant to 2nd grade green, supporting Mrs. Moskowitz. Mrs. O'Neill is looking forward to participating in the sacrament preparation and contributing to the faith formation of our young students.
We say good-bye to:
Mrs. Patty Harmon resigned her position as our fifth grade teacher. Mrs. Harmon's family commitments are calling her in another direction, and she cannot continue with her teaching position.
Miss Karen Kelleher resigned her position as our music teacher. Miss Kelleher has taken a position in private industry and is unable to continue her music ministry.
Mrs. Teresa Selby resigned her position as the instructional assistant for 1st grade red. Mrs. Selby has secured a teaching position at St. Mark's.
I will update you as I fill the remaining instructional assistant positions and search for a music teacher.
